He has multi-year experience as a research associate in the Department of Informatics & Telecommunications in University of Athens. He expertise in the Artificial Intelligence field focusing mainly in the research areas of Semantic Web and Natural Language Processing (NLP), while he is mostly interested in applied research. In 2015, he curated a major project for the digitalization of Greek legislation using Semantic Web technologies promoting the public linked open data movement. Accordingly, Ilias with his colleagues on October 2015 published a paper named “Modeling and Querying Greek Legislation using Semantic Web Technologies”.
Currently, he continues his research upon legal aspects exploring some state-of-the-art NLP techniques (i.e. word embeddings) via machine learning.
Born in Athens, Attica on 24/06/1990. Is an undergraduate student in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He edited the reorganization of the electronic platform Nomothesia@ within the dissertation entitled "Nomothesia@ API: Reengineering the Electronic Platform" with supervisors Professor Manolis Koubarakis basis for the conversion of all knowledge infrastructure in RDF / OWL data sets, while further he developed the functions provided by the electronic platform , with special emphasis on providing REST services.

He holds a PhD from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (DI&T) of the University of Athens where I worked on the topic of querying incomplete (geospatial) information in the data model RDF.
He is a Professor in the Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He previously held positions at the Dept. of Electronic and Computer Engineering , Technical University of Crete (Assistant and Associate Professor), the Dept. of Informatics, University of Athens (Visiting Researcher), the Dept. of Computation, UMIST(now University of Manchester) (Lecturer) and the Dept. of Computing, Imperial College, London (Research Associate).
He hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, from the National Technical University of Athens, an M.Sc. in Computer Science, from the University of Toronto, and a diploma (B.Sc.) in Mathematics, from the University of Crete. He have served in the program committee of various international conferences and workshops and I have organized various international events.
He had the role of supervisor in the first stage of creating the electronic platform Nomothesi@ the thesis "Nomothesi@: Greek Legislation Platform" and generally serves as an assistant in the whole project.
